I finally got Barrett to sing these songs from VBS on video.  It's so cute I had to share.

It's been 6 months

And I'm happy to report that thus far I have kept my resolutions for this year.  I gave up fried food (Mark did too) and chocolate.  I go back and forth on which one is harder.  Probably the fried food but only because of chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants.  It is SO hard not to eat those.  We didn't each much fried food before so it wasn't bad giving up the occasional chicken fingers at a fast food place.  Other than that, chocolate is way harder. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE chocolate.  When I tell people I gave it up they always say "well dark chocolate is good for you." Um, yeah, not when you eat 15 Dove dark chocolates at once. :)  I'm already planning what I will it at 12:01am on January 1, 2012.  I guarantee it will include chocolate ice cream, a brownie, Dove dark chocolates, a chocolate chip cookie and a Butterfinger. Yummy! My mouth waters just thinking about it.  Only 6 more months....

Best intentions

I always have such great intentions when it comes to our blog.  I tell myself almost weekly that I'm going to update it.  Then it's Saturday and I haven't updated it.  And so I'm trying again.  We have a new blog address now which I'm hoping helps me actually want to update it.  (We suspected a bit of unwanted traffic at the old address and I really didn't want to make the blog private.)  Blog posting just seems to be the last thing on my list each week.  You all know me and my lists and how I love to mark things off.  The blog is just that perpetual list item that never gets marked off.  But alas, I will try to be a better blogger.  Maybe I will write that on my bathroom mirror. :)  And how did we settle on malhiotriot you may be thinking?  That's the name of our band on Guitar Hero...because that's how we roll.  Rock on.

Speaking of haircuts...

Back in January I cut 13.5" off my hair and donated it.  Last time I did this (spring 2007) I donated to Locks of Love but this time I donated it to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program.  I found out that LOL mostly can't use adult hair for kids and so they end up selling it to cover operating costs.  I have no problem with that but I really wanted my hair to be used for a wig for someone with cancer.  The Pantene program makes wigs for women with cancer and they do it free of charge!  It makes my heart happy to think of a woman, possibly my age, getting a wig that will boost her confidence and give her strength as she battles such a wretched disease!

When I look back at these pictures, I really can't remember my hair being this long.  That is ALOT of hair. 

My hair is pretty thick and it takes about 6 ponytails to make a one wig so mine counted as 2! 

New haircut!  It still pretty much looks likes this but I have highlights now.  Had to cover up the grey hairs I'm getting! Eeek.

Hey Mom..Hudson said I'm a girl

So last week Barrett tells me that Hudson (his cousin) told him he was a girl.  And so I asked him why Hudson said that.  And he tells me "he said I have girl hair."  Now, Mark and I like Barrett's hair to be a little long and Barrett actually likes it too.  I'd asked him several times over the past month if he wanted to get a haircut and the answer was always no.  Well I guess peer pressure got the best of him and he informed me that he was "ready to get my hair cutted Mom."  I asked the stylist to keep it a bit long but it's definitely shorter now.  He did say "I can see!" after getting it cut.
