Everytime I saw a commercial for the Breast Cancer 3 Day I always thought to myself "I should do that." One day, I just looked at Mark after seeing the commercial and said I'm going to do it. I went to the website and searched for an informational meeting. I recruited two of my friends (Gaby and Diana) and off we went. After attending one of those meetings, there is really no way that you can refuse to sign up. It is so motivational and inspirational. I've talked to a few people that have done it and they have all said that it is a life-changing event. I'm so excited to be a part of it! We were 99% committed before we even got to the meeting so of course we all signed up that night. We've recruited another team member (Cynthia) as well so now we have 4! Our team name is Scooby Booby Doo. Diana's 4 year old daughter, Sophia, gave us the idea for that. :)
We will train for 24 weeks and then over the course of 3 days we will walk 20 miles each day. At night, we camp out...in pink tents, of course! Each walker is required to raise $2300 for breast cancer research so we are all 4 busy with our fundraising campaigns.

Pregger updates (not me-you fools!)
Several of my best girlfriends are pregnant right now so I want to give them a shout out. In order of due date...Erin (Ben's mom-see birthday pic below) is having another baby boy on May 21st! It's scheduled so I can say that date with a certain degree of confidence. Second, Kate is due with baby #2 on July 31 (my bday!). She is not finding out the sex this time (so exciting). She has a 2 1/2 year old named Elise. Third, Jen is pregnant!!! This one is newly announced as Jen is just starting her second trimester. She is due November 4. Jen has a 5 year old (today is Kaylie's birthday - Happy Birthday Kaylie-bug!!) little girl and has had quite a rocky road getting pregnant with baby #2 (see the link on the right to Jen & Steven). We pray constantly for healthy pregnancies and strong babies for all of our friends.

It's been awhile since we have posted about what Barrett is up to. I don't have weight, height stats because he hasn't had his 18 month appointment yet. He will be 18 months old next week and is constantly learning new things. Mark and I are amazed on a daily basis by things he does/says.
He loves to sing. His favorite songs are ABC's of course, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Patty Cake, the Raindrops song (no idea the actual name of it), Row, Row, Row Your Boat and the song from Signing Times. He also really enjoys Fearless by Taylor Swift. No lie. In the car he gets a huge smile and dances when it comes on. He sings along to all of the above-mentioned songs which is hysterical.
He loves to count too and can count all the way to twenty. Most of the teens sound the same but he gets to twenty at the right time so we know he gets it. His pronunciation will get better with time.
His greatest advancement lately has been in his vocabulary. He is constantly learning new words. It is funny to hear how he says things. Here is his current vocabulary in Barrett language with the English word in parenthesis if necessary: Mama, Mom, Dada, Dad, Papaw, Poppy, Nana, Pre-pre (Preston), Ack (Zach), Ow-wix (Alex), Gi-nee (Granny), hel-wo (hello), Say-ee (Sadie - our dog), wawa (water), bite (bright - when he sees sunlight), ow-sigh (outside), yeah, wuv ew (love you), bye, hi, moo-mee (movie), nah (nuk/pacifier), cole (cold), aw-white (alright), boo (blue), re (red), purple (he says this one really well), bess-you (Bless You), than-doo (thank you), trass (trash), pa-ee (potty), in-sigh (inside), car, opie (open), aught (hot), coo-ee (cookie), baby, ban-kee (blankie), die-pee (diaper), eye, bath, ball, date-ja (great job), moh-moh (more-more-he usually repeats more over and over until you give him what he wants. He does the sign language with this one too), all-duh (all done), no-no, huh (hush - for Sadie when barking), tah-it (target - heehee). I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of right now. He consistently says these words but he'll try to say almost anything you ask him too.
He loves to talk on the phone. If the phone rings he'll start running around saying "call, call, call, call". He'll talk on his play phone and the conversation goes something like this "Hel-wo. (insert babble we can't understand). Aw-white, wuv ew, bye." Sometimes he laughs like he's told a joke or heard one which cracks us up.
We are currently trying to teach him colors but he calls everything blue so we have a ways to go on that.

Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays
We've had alot of birthdays lately. Ben turned 2 on March 9. Ashlyn turned 1 on March 18. My mom turned 21 on April 1. :) And our nephew Zach turned 8 on April 12.

Colorado!
Mark recently accepted a new position in his company and as a result he has been going to Colorado Springs for training. B and I decided to join him during one of his weeks up there. Mark flew up on Sunday night and Barrett and I flew out on Wednesday morning. I was a little nervous about the logistics of getting us and all of our crud to the airport and to Colorado but we made it! I have 2 good friends that live in CO - Lorna lives in Colorado Springs and Gina lives in Parker (just outside Denver). Lorna showed us the town on Wednesday and Thursday while Mark worked and Friday night Gina and her beautiful daughter, Catharine, drove to Lorna's and we all hung out at Lorna's house. We had such a great trip catching up with friends, shopping in Manitou Springs and just checking out Colorado Springs. Mark got off work early on Friday so we took a family trip to Garden of the Gods which was really cool to see. It was such a great trip!
Barrett had my nail file and a baby wipe on the end of it and I think he was pretending it was some sort of wand or sword because he kept thrusting it in front of him while making swishing noises.

We went to a little kid pizza place (think Chuck E. Cheese with no scary band) and Barrett had a great time going on this slide over and over...and over.
